First, try searching for the school using fewer key words when looking for a specific school and don’t use abbreviations. For example, if you are searching for the school Central Texas College, do not search on the school’s abbreviation “CTC”; try searching on the keyword “Texas”. If you still do not find the school you wish to attend, it may be because it is not listed in VIA. You may only use Tuition Assistance at accredited postsecondary colleges and universities that have signed a Department of Defense (DOD) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). If you cannot find your desired school using the search function, it may be because they have not signed a DOD MOU. You can check with your Army Education Counselor or the school to confirm.
Finally, it is important to remember that if you search for a school in VIA you will only be able to select that school as your home school if it offers the degree program you have selected. If it does not offer your selected degree program and you still wish to attend the school, you will need to change your degree program in VIA to one that is offered by the school. Select the hyperlinked school name on the School Search Results page to see a full list of degrees that are offered by the school.
