VIA is a career, degree, and school decision support tool designed to help Soldiers make informed decisions about how they use Tuition Assistance benefits. VIA will be available to all Soldiers with a GoArmyEd account beginning 12 December 2015.
VIA uses an interest inventory, a work values survey, and preference questions to make personalized career path recommendations. Soldiers will be able to compare and contrast information about recommended career paths such as expected salary, job growth, and education requirements using trusted data provided by the Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Soldiers will be able to search for alternative career options, even those not recommended by VIA.
Based on a Soldier’s career goal selection, VIA recommends college degree options that best prepare an individual for that career. Once Soldiers select a degree goal, VIA recommends schools that offer the degree online or near the location that Soldier selects. VIA helps Soldiers choose a “best fit/best value” school by comparing cost, student outcomes, and alignment with student preferences.
After using VIA, Soldiers will submit their career goal, degree, and school selection to their Army Education Counselor for approval and further discussion if needed.
