Question
Soldier - Why am I on an Expiration of Service Agreement (ESA) hold and how do I remove it?

Answer

Due to Army Regulations:

  • Active Duty Officers must have a two-year Active Duty Service Obligation remaining from the course end date in order to qualify for Active Duty Tuition Assistance (TA)
  • Reserve Officers must have a four-year Reserve Duty Service Obligation remaining from the course end date in order to qualify for TA

It is preferred that you upload a copy of your orders to the eFile tab in your GoArmyEd record, and then contact your Education Center to have the orders confirmed. If eligible, the Hold will be deferred. This will allow you to request TA and enroll for your courses. This hold will not affect your current courses.
