Question
Soldier - What are the grade policies?

Answer

The following refer to Army Policies related to class grades.

Army Requirement

Description

Undergraduate Classes

  • You must pass TA-funded classes with a grade of C or higher for undergraduate classes.
  • A grade of F (Fail), W (Withdrawal), D-, D or D+ in undergraduate classes will result in recoupment from your pay for the portion of the tuition that was funded by TA.

Graduate Classes

  • You must pass TA-funded classes with a grade of a B or higher for graduate classes. An F (Fail), W (Withdrawal),C-, C, C+, D-, D or D+ in graduate classes will result in recoupment from your pay for the portion of the tuition that was funded by TA.

Pass/Fail Grades

  • You must receive a “Pass” for “Pass/Fail” grades. A “Fail” grade will result in recoupment from your pay for the portion of the tuition that was funded by TA

Note: Your School will designate classes as Pass/Fail.

Incomplete “I” Grades

  • Incomplete “I” grades must be resolved with a passing grade within 120 days of the class end date or automatic recoupment will occur.
  • Your school might have a policy that allows more or less than 120 days to resolve an “I” grade. Be sure to check with your instructor.
  • If your school submits an “I” grade, your GoArmyEd account is placed on hold until your school changes the “I” grade to a passing grade or TA recoupment is processed after 120 days.

Tuition Assistance Grade Point Average (TA GPA) Undergraduate

  • If you have completed 15 or more semester hours of TA-funded undergraduate courses, you must maintain a 2.0 Army TA Grade Point Average (GPA) to receive additional TA.
  • If your grades fall below a 2.0 Army TA GPA, you are not eligible for additional TA until you raise your GPA to a 2.0 through self-pay classes. You must register for classes through GoArmyEd. Your final grade for those self-pay classes is included in your Army TA GPA calculation until your GPA has been raised to a 2.0 again, and the hold is automatically lifted.

Tuition Assistance Grade Point Average (TA GPA) Graduate

  • If you have completed six or more SH of TA-funded graduate classes, you must maintain a 3.0 Graduate Army TA GPA to receive additional TA.
  • If your grades fall below a 3.0 Army TA GPA, you are not eligible for additional TA until you raise your GPA to a 3.0 through self-pay classes. You must register for classes through GoArmyEd. Your final grade for those self-pay classes is included in your Army TA GPA calculation until your GPA has been raised to a 3.0 again, and the hold is automatically lifted.

Missing Grades

  • Your school is required to enter a class grade into your GoArmyEd Student Record within 14 days of your class end date. If no grade has been posted, a system-generated email notification is sent to your school reminding the school of that obligation. If no grade has been received within 45 days after the end date of the class, a hold is placed on your account.
