Soldier - How do I drop or withdraw from a class if I have a military reason or emergency?

Answer

You are strongly advised to contact your Education Counselor or contact your school representative before you drop or withdraw from a class.

If your class has ended, you will not be able to drop or withdraw from a class in GoArmyEd. Contact your Education Counselor.

Follow the steps below to drop or withdraw from a class in GoArmyEd with a Military Reason:

STEP 1: Select the “Withdraw from a Class” Smart Link on your GoArmyEd homepage.

 

STEP 2: The Select Classes to Drop screen appears. Only classes in which you are currently enrolled in are displayed.

STEP 3: Select the checkbox in the “Select” field next to the class you want to drop.

STEP 4: Select the “Drop Selected Class” button

STEP 5: The Confirm your selection screen appears. Select the enrollment action, "Withdrawal - Military Reason" from the drop-down menu.

STEP 6: A message will appear stating that you must submit the Request for TA Recoupment Waiver – Withdrawal for (WM) Military Reason. This must be signed by your Battalion Commander, first LTC in your chain of command for Active Soldiers, Unit Commander for each class for Reserve Soldiers.

This document should be uploaded via eFile. This withdrawal will not be approved until the TA Recoupment Waiver – Withdrawal for (WM) Military Reason has been successfully uploaded with the appropriate signatures.

Select “OK”.

STEP 7: The Withdrawal for Military Reasons Instructions will display. Please read the instructions carefully.

Select the “Request for TA Recoupment Waiver – Withdrawal for (WM) Military Reasons” link. This must be signed by your Battalion Commander, first LTC in your chain of command for Active Soldiers, or Unit Commander for each class for Reserve Soldiers. Upload the signed document to eFile.

STEP 8: Select the “Finish Dropping” button at the bottom of your screen to complete the Withdrawal for Military Reasons.

STEP 9: You will be reminded again that you MUST upload your signed “Request for TA Recoupment Waiver – Withdrawal for (WM) Military Reasons” to eFile within 60 days.

Select “OK”. The page will show a green check beside the class which you have selected to drop for Military Reasons.

Note: Your hold will not be removed until the proper documentation with signatures has been uploaded to eFile.
